Our mission is to empower seniors, adults with disabilities, veterans, and other underserved populations to remain independent by nourishing their bodies, minds, and spirits, and drive out hunger and isolation in our region.

Through our Home Delivered Meals program, we bring more than sustenance; we deliver independence and dignity to those who need it most. It’s disheartening to know that 1 out of 2 of our Home Delivered Meals clients had to make the agonizing choice between having enough food and meeting other basic needs in the last six months.

HOME HEART HEROES
Building Safety, Comfort, and Independence
Through our Home Heart Heroes program, we go beyond meals to help clients live safely and confidently in their own homes. This initiative provides small-scale home repairs and essential safety upgrades that make a big difference — improving mobility, reducing fall risks, and supporting independence for local seniors, adults with disabilities, and veterans.
In 2024 alone, we completed 33 transformative projects, including the installation of wheelchair ramps, sturdy handrails, repaired porches, safer walkways, improved heating, ventilation, lighting, and more.
PET MEALS DELIVERY
Supporting the Bonds That Heal and Comfort
Our Pet Meals program goes beyond feeding people — it helps care for the loyal companions who bring comfort, joy, and purpose to our clients’ lives. For many homebound seniors and adults, their pets are not just animals; they are family, offering emotional support, companionship, and unconditional love.
But for clients with limited mobility or resources, getting pet food and supplies can be a real challenge. That’s why, in 2024, our dedicated staff and volunteers made 1,032 pet meal deliveries, supporting the health and happiness of over 54 beloved pets across the Monterey Peninsula.
Delivering More Than a Meal
Our Home-Delivered Meals program remains at the heart of our mission, offering more than just nourishment—it provides a crucial connection for those who are often overlooked.
Delivering three freshly-prepared, locally-sourced meals each day, this program addresses the nutritional needs of our homebound clients while promoting their overall health, safety, and independence.
Beyond the meals, these daily visits from caring volunteers serve as a vital lifeline, offering a friendly check-in and meaningful social interaction that help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. Through this program, we continue to foster well-being and connection, ensuring our clients feel supported and valued.
In 2024, we expanded meal delivery in Carmel Valley, Marina, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside, providing over 462,000 meals on 37 delivery routes in Monterey County.
100% of our recipients report that receiving home delivered meals has helped them maintain their independence within the comfort of their own homes.
Every meal we deliver comes with a side of social interaction, ensuring that our clients receive not only the nutrition they need but also the companionship they crave. In fact, 94% of our clients have reported that the social contact they have with our dedicated volunteers is vital to their overall well-being.
What sets us apart isn’t just the quality of our meals, but the warmth and compassion of our volunteers. We’re proud to share that 100% of our clients report our dedicated volunteers are friendly and caring.
Decades of Connection, Community, and Care
For 37 years, the Meals on Wheels Community Center in Pacific Grove has been more than just a place — it’s been a welcoming heart of the community, where friendships flourish, stories are shared, and everyone belongs.
Expanding far beyond nutritional support, the Community Center offers a vibrant space for recreational activities, wellness programs, classes, and joyful gatherings, all designed to nurture health, happiness, and human connection.
In 2024, we proudly welcomed 350 Community Center members and opened our doors to hundreds more for events, workshops, and celebrations that strengthen the spirit of togetherness.
Here, every visit is a reminder that community is not just where we live — it’s how we live, uplift, and care for one another.
